Adventures in Computational Materials Science

I am Mogadalai Pandurangan Gururajan -- M P Gururajan -- Guru, for short.

At present, I am a Professor at the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, IIT-Bombay, Powai, Mumbai 400076.

Before I came here, I spent eight (great) months at IIT-Delhi, Department of Applied Mechanics, and two (wonderful) years at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois 60208-3108 USA. The photo on top was taken in my lab sometime in 2016 and the one at the bottom was taken at my office in Department of Metallurgy (currently, Department of Materials Engineering), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore 560012 INDIA, where I (spent great many exciting, and, at times, Ph D Comic-ian years, of course, and) got my Ph D under Professor T. A. Abinandanan.

I work in the area of modelling microstructural evolution. I have worked on the problems of elastic stress effects on microstructural evolution (growth kinetics, thin films, rafting, and phase inversion), grain growth, and point defects in B2 ordered alloys. I have taught undergraduate courses on phase transformations, programming, data analysis and interpretation, and, electronic properties of materials, and at graduate level courses on modelling and analysis, modelling of microstructural evolution, mathematical methods of materials engineering and diffusion and kinetics. In July-December, 2021 I will be (co-)teaching Data Analysis and Interpretation. In this page, you will find details of my research interests, teaching experience and many other things. Feel free to explore and give your feedback.
